How Nepal Student Union collects, uses, and protects your personal information — and our commitment never to share it with third parties.

This Privacy Policy explains how Nepal Student Union ("NSU", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use the Nepal Student Union website (nsu.org.np) and our mobile application, "Nepal Student Union: One App". By applying for membership or using our services, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
When you apply for membership or use our services, we may collect: your full name, phone number, and email address; your province and district; your occupation (student or professional); your university, campus, and university type; and any identity document you choose to upload, such as a student ID card, admission receipt, or national ID. On the mobile app, a basic profile may also be stored locally on your own device to personalise your experience.
We use your information only to operate the organisation's services: to process and verify your membership, to generate your unique NSU membership number and digital membership card, to keep you informed about notices, news, campaigns, and programmes, and to respond to your requests. We never use your personal data for advertising or profiling.
All data is managed and secured by Lacspace, the official technology partner of Nepal Student Union, on secure, access-controlled cloud infrastructure. Access is limited to authorised personnel who are bound by strict confidentiality obligations. Any hosting or infrastructure providers process data solely on our behalf to operate the service and are not permitted to use it for any other purpose.
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with any third party for marketing, advertising, or commercial purposes. Your data stays within Nepal Student Union and its official technology partner, Lacspace — and nowhere else.
Your information may be disclosed only in two limited situations: (a) within Nepal Student Union — shared with the organisation's authorised committees and officials strictly for membership and administrative purposes; and (b) when legally required — if a competent government authority, court, or applicable law of Nepal makes a lawful and binding request. We disclose only the minimum information necessary and only when genuinely obligated.
We apply industry-standard safeguards — including encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access controls, and secure storage — to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. While no online system can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure, we work continuously to keep your data safe.
We retain your membership information for as long as your membership remains active, or as long as needed to fulfil the purposes described in this policy and to meet any legal obligations. You may request deletion of your data at any time.
You may request to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to withdraw your membership, by contacting us using the details below. On the mobile app, you can also remove your locally stored profile from your device at any time.
Our website may use minimal, essential cookies and basic, privacy-respecting analytics to keep the site working and to understand aggregate usage. These do not identify you personally and are never used for advertising.
Our services are intended for students and members of the general public. If you are under 16 years of age, please use the service with the guidance of a parent or guardian. We collect only the information necessary for membership.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Your continued use of our services after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
